About this Project
Rochester Institute of Technology needed a stairwell atrium that felt as considered as the academic spaces around it, not just a code-required means of egress. AAPG supplied real wood veneer wall panels running the full height of the stairwell, turning a high-traffic circulation space into an architectural feature in its own right.
The panel system's clean, tight-jointed grid lets the veneer's natural grain read as a continuous surface up multiple stories, providing a warm backdrop for the space's sculptural lighting and art installations. It's built to hold up to the daily foot traffic of a busy academic building while keeping the finished, high-end look the space calls for.
